Can anyone help me? [07 Sep 2008|10:51pm]

antitheism

[hada_princesa04]
I'm looking for good antitheistic cartoons/pictures. :D
Do you think any of you guys could give me good images of antitheism?
A bit like the venn diagram of politics, religion, intelligent design? I can't find the image right now, but I found it here before.

Thanks for your time! :D

Today's agenda: Rot and failure [07 Sep 2008|07:28am]

coatcheckgirl
Today I bit into a rather gritty piece of salami (don't laugh, vegetarians y vegans) and broke a quarter of a tooth that had been bothering me for a bit. I got it checked out before I left the States and they couldn't see anything (typical) but obviously they were WRONG WRONG WRONG.

Luckily my housemate came with me as a translator to the 'emergency dentist' who gave me all kinds of boring but hopefully effective painkillers, and now I'm on a liquid diet of antibiotics y zuma until Friday when they quite possibly extract my entire toof. I'm just hoping that the broken quarter stays in my gum where it's lodged and that I don't wake myself up screaming by accidentally biting down on it until then.

I can't say this is how I wanted to spend my day - nevermind my birthday on Thursday - but at least gelato and sangria are still feasible options.

So I'm writing this with a thumb immobiliser splint on so you'll have to forgive any typos.

I must confess I don't really get the Presidential election system in the States. People whose intellect I respect (somewhat) have suggested that Bush essentially stole the Oval Office - I'm prepared to go with that with a not too large pinch of salt. But, nonetheless, an awful lot of people did vote for him - it may not have been the majority, but it put him in a position to steal that march. A lot voted for him on the grounds, I expect, that God told them so. I expect a lot will vote Republican in this coming race (although I suspect a lot will be voting for Palin rather than McCain and voting against Obama/the Anti-Christ).

Hella spreading [07 Sep 2008|02:43am]

[ music | Vitas - Nevezuchii ]

Me: In Northern California sometimes we'll say 'hella' instead of 'very'.

Collins: Hello?

Me: No, 'hella'. Like 'hello', with the 'a' sound instead.

Collins:: Hellaaaaa.

Me:: That's perfect.

Collins: So you say 'hella' like 'hello'?

Me: No, we say 'hella' instead of 'very' to put emphasis on something. For example, 'It is hella hot. I am hella tired.'

Collins: Why you say this?

Me: Because we're idiots.

COyou2 - Saving the planet one breath at a time [07 Sep 2008|04:48pm]

This site looks interesting, it's talking about personal carbon capture and storage as a strategy to prevent climate change:
http://cou2.com

"Did you know that human beings themselves are major emitters of carbon dioxide? We all know about reducing our electricity consumption and taking fewer flights, but isn’t all this a little pointless when one basic, everyday activity cancels it all out?

Each day every human being breathes out an average of 1 kg of CO2. That’s 0.38 tonnes a year. Now multiply that by 6.7 billion! That’s a lot of CO2.

COyou2 person carbon capture systems allow you to store that CO2 and do your bit to stop climate change. The COyou2 patented technology works by filtering the air you breathe out, capturing the carbon in a convenient lightweight backpack.

That’s why we all need to use personal carbon capture systems. At the end of the day, there are 21 million of us and only one government – so what are you waiting for?"

I've just ordered a catalogue, it's definitely worth checking out, after all, every little thing makes a difference. I never thought about human beings as being responsible for major carbon emissions, but I'm always looking for ways to lessen my carbon footprint.

What do you guys think?

Donde estabas tu? [06 Sep 2008|06:55pm]

Tonight I went to a filthy deserted warehouse in La Pau with Buba and Collins to see Kofi sing in Patois. There were loads of crusty white dread punks watching west African guys imitate Jamaican music and if one so desired, one could get jerk chicken and so forth cooked on the premises. It was pretty much like being in Berkeley (only they didn't have the yams, damn).

"prepare to be refrigerated" is finally available on iTunes, in case any of you were waiting for that.

be advised that the song titles got truncated, so be sure to get the correct titles if you buy it there.

"As to Jesus of Nazareth, my Opinion of whom you particularly desire, I think the System of Morals and his Religion, as he left them to us, the best the world ever saw or is likely to see; but I apprehend it has received various corrupt changes, and I have, with most of the present Dissenters in England, some Doubts as to his divinity; tho' it is a question I do not dogmatize upon, having never studied it, and I think it needless to busy myself with it now, when I expect soon an Opportunity of knowing the Truth with less Trouble..."
